We dream of a church where the Word is taught, the Spirit is alive, Jesus is celebrated and people find real relationships with Jesus Christ. We look to provide comfort for the hurting, hope for the hopeless and food for the hungry. We are a family - imperfect people bound together by our love for Christ, looking for tangible ways to share that love with each other and our community.
Our Story
October 1999…fourteen families met in a living room and were among the first God called to a special ministry only He could have planned. It would become Cross Timbers Community Church.
In January 2000, over 150 people gathered for the first public service in the back room at Texas Lil's in Justin. Soon followed our first baptism service, affectionately called the Baptism Barbeque Bash, and plans were underway for what would become one of Cross Timbers' most impacting outreach efforts,–Easter. About 1500 people attended, and from that point on, Sunday services were held in the "big room" at Lil's.
A new facility in Argyle was completed by October of that year and ready to house our growing family of believers. Over 600 people celebrated the first service in the building. Later that same month, we hosted the first Fall Festival which has since become an annual community event reaching thousands.
Word traveled quickly about this authentic community that invited people to come just as they were. Many found the welcoming atmosphere and decided to call it home. By 2004 we had outgrown the facility and added a new worship center to be able to offer more service times for all that were coming. In January 2006 Anchor Church sought to join with Cross Timbers. A common vision allowed the two churches to come together to further expand their ability to serve the people in this area.
Today, Cross Timbers continues to grow as the Lord brings people into our unique authentic community. LIFE groups, a prayer and care center (The Healing Place) which also offers professional counseling and support groups, and expanding video venues are among our ever-changing attributes.
What began with a few has grown and developed into an active, fulfilling, significant ministry to thousands. God's hand has been on the Cross Timbers family, and prayers continue to be lifted up asking for His guidance and wisdom as more and more come to know Him.
